Kelly's Korner's Show Us Your Life: Wedding Party and Flowers

Kelly has been hosting "Show us" Friday's. I've been tagging along for the ride but have not participating until now. I think it will be fun. :)

Our wedding was originally planned to be outside at my Grandmommy's house. But rain changed things around a little bit. Since we were planning on using the natural background of her garden, we didn't have a whole lot planned in the flower department.

Trevor's favorite color is green and we agreed on green for our wedding color because we felt it wouldn't clash with an outdoor wedding. I wasn't too picky about the dresses that the bridesmaids wore. I just told them the color and the general length that they needed to be and then they chose from there. I wanted to make sure that the dresses they picked would be ones that they can wear again. Also, each of the girls wore pearl jewelry. My dress was covered in pearls, which I absolutely adore! So there were pearls throughout the decor and touches of our wedding.

Our wedding party was small and I liked the closeness that it created.

Ashley Long Cross is my sorority sister. She made college life a little bit more bearable. :)

Martina Diley Harris goes to church with me at Pinelake.

Hayley Hylander is one of my dearest friends and was my maid of honor. We went to high school together. Though sometimes we both get caught up in school and work and living several hours apart, everytime we talk it is as if we haven't skipped a beat at all. She is the only one of my bridesmaids who hasn't gotten married since my wedding. We're expecting her engagement to be announced any day now. :o)

I tried to find a good picture of Trevor and his groomsmen, but Brady seems to be making a face or not looking in each one of them. Thanks, Brady. :)

The boutonnieres were made from the same flowers and pieces as my bridesmaids' bouquet.

In this picture, Ashley is holding the 3 bridesmaids' bouquets and mine (with the linked hearts).

My three bridesmaids and their bouquets.

There were two of these plants, one my Grandmommy (my Poppa's mommy) has and my PawPaw (Mom's dad) has the other one. They are my only living grandparents and are very, very dear to me.

My dad made this trellis arch for our wedding. Aunt Linda added some greenery and flowers to it at the last minute for us.

Thanks for coming by! Leave some love and I will most definitely return the favor. I love finding new blogs to read!

Kroger Show and Tell 7/23/2009

Kroger has an amazing Mega Deal going on right now. I think I astounded the people at Kroger, not just because of my savings but because of my age. Most people my age 1) aren't married, 2) don't use coupons, 3) don't look like they are still in high school. My mom stood by and watched as I checked out, along with what felt like 5 Kroger employees and all the poor people in line behind me. :o) It was slightly nerve wracking because some of my coupons had to be entered by hand. Also, they only discounted me $20 (or 4 mega deals) instead of $25 for the 5 mega deals that I purchased. So I got $5 cash back afterward. But it all turned out great!*Note: Coach was checking out a few particular purchases. :)
Purchases:

5 Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter,
4 Zatarain's mixes,

"The Man Bathroom"

Now, let me clarify... Even though this is known as the man bathroom. It is the one I shower in. The water pressure in the master bath is not that great, so in order to get all the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair, I use the guest bathroom. But I get ready for the day in the master bathroom. A lot of the pieces in the bathroom were given to my by my Poppa(my dad). All of the things he gave me used to be in his office but his company is moving to a different building and going to cubicles (poor Poppa, I know how he loves having his own "space"). Since he wouldn't have wall and shelf space for everything, he gave all of his lighthouse and sailboat treasures to me and Trevor.

This was taken from the doorway. The picture, boat and lamp were all "inherited" from my dad.
Close up of the boat. The plaque tag says "Mayflower".

A close up of the picture on the far left wall. It says "May your sails be set to follow whereever God may lead."

This is on the wall opposite of the toilet, behind the door. I love this painting, especially the frame.

The lighthouse, picture and boat section came from Poppa.
The lighthouse picture says:
"The Lord is my light and my Salvation... The Lord is the strength of my life. The Lord will light up the night, He will turn the darkness to Light."
The chest holding the washcloth,
boat with drawer(it was holding a piece of soap on the level part above the drawer),
2 nautical hooks (seen in the mirror)
and the two bottles all came from Hobby Love (um, Hobby Lobby).
The clear bottle holds soap and I am thinking about putting lotion in the blue one.

8 days off

Today was the last day of our current homestand at work. Then next homestand is 10 days long, starting on a week from tomorrow. However, I have Monday, Wednesday and Saturday off. So I have 8 days off in a row.
On one hand, I am looking forward to it. On the other hand, I have a feeling that I am going to get bored out of my mind. I am going to try to use that time to get a few things straightened out here around the apartment.

~ I only have one room "finished" in the entire apartment, the guest bathroom which is also known as Trevor's "man bathroom". This is the bathroom that Trevor wanted to make a pirate bathroom but ended up turning into a Nautical themed bathroom. I like the way it turned out. Keep watching for pictures in the next couple of days.

~ I absolutely love the work of Thomas Kinkade. Seeing as how it will be a very long time, if ever, that I can actually affort one of his paintings, I have been putting together and glueing some puzzles of his paintings. I have 3 done so far and I have 5 or so left to complete. I am not sure where I am going to hang them or what I am going to do with them... But I can guarantee you that they will be used to fill up some wall space. I HATE white walls. Period. And, of course, living in an apartment we have nothing but white walls. I am sure I will put them to use somewhere. :)

~ I need to find some piece to a twin size bed frame in order to get the guest bedroom in order. My friend, Brooke, is coming in 3 weeks to stay with us and I WILL have it all in order by then. Somehow in the move, we lost two of the four brackets that connect the bed springs/frame to the head board and foot board. I am going to hunt around at some thrift stores to try and find the pieces that we need.

~ I need to make a shower curtain for the master bathroom or try an find one.I want a lovely adult bathroom. :) I want something that incorporates certain colors but I don't want a pattern that is really busy. And seeing as how the bathroom is small (way smaller than the guest bathroom, I need to find something that is going to make the room look larger... not something that will make it look smaller and "swollow" the whole room.

~ I have several Disney postcards that are replicas of some of the famous Disney paintings. I want them to go on the wall around my desk but I am not sure if I am going to frame them or find something else to do with them. I have a castle painting that is going to be hung on the wall and I want the photos to be arranged around the painting. Any suggestions?

~ I think I might go to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. I just LOVE Hobby Lobby. :)

I will be posting pictures and updates of what I get accomplished. Maybe that will motivate me to get everything done quickly. :o)

As Seen On TV

Just a few of the things I watch on a regular basis on TV. :o)

I have loved this show from the beginning. I cried during the season 1 finale and then again during the first episode of the second season, when Amanda died. I thought Betty was great. =) I hope things work out with Denise and her husband.
I just love it. And tonight I had Trevor and his friends, Tyler and Keith, watching the episode from last night with me. Apparently the guys like it too. ;)

Oh, the Bachelorette... I don't even know where to begin. I am glad Wes is gone. In a way, I think I understand Jillian's reasoning on her needing to let Wes go in her time and for her own reasons rather than just going from what she had been told. But at the same time, she let good guys go in the meantime.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Jake was the next Bachelor.
As I type, I am watching tonight's episode. I started it an hour late so that I could fast forward while it was currently recording on the DVR, my new best friend. :o)
I was glad last week that Jillian chose to bypass the fantasy week for the most part. I was hoping maybe it was not just about the emotions, as she stated, but maybe a moral thing... but since she is taking advantage of it tonight, I guess it looses some of the sweetness of her skipping it in the first place.
I really don't see Jillian long-term with any of the guys she has in the top four. We shall see.

Secret Life of the American Teenager
I was hooked during season 1. I am not sure where the 2nd season is going but I am willing to give it a chance. The first episode this season completely threw me off. I was thinking they would have Grace hang on to her virginity. I was completely not expecting Mr. Bowman to die and Grace to blame his death on the fact that she had sex. Just plain crazy... =)

Make It or Break It
I am not going to lie. I started watching this show because I love Candace Cameron Bure. It's alright. I have always been fascinated with gymnastics, so I definitely find that aspect of the show interesting. It think it is too early in the game to decide whether I will watch this show long term.

I think I have watched almost every episode of Bones. Our DVR is set up to record the 2 reruns that come on everyday and the new episodes. I still love CSI but I like the Bones side of the investigation. Trevor and I watch this together a lot.

Another show that Trevor and I watch together is Criminal Minds. We watched our first episode in Orlando and didn't watch it again for months. We watched a few episodes at my in-laws house and some at Heather's but we are now starting to catch up on all of the episodes.

Though out of season, I also like to watch 90210, Real Housewifes(OC and New York only) and sometimes Millionaire Matchmaker.
I am always up for watching new shows. What are some of your favorite shows? And for those with recorders or the lovely DVR, what is your DVR set up to record on a weekly/daily basis?

Quotable 4th graders

I left the church Monday morning with the children's group for camp. We took 127 kids and 41 adults. It was a lot of fun and very much exhausting. My dear friend, Katie, was a cabin co-chap with me. We had 6 4th grade girls from the Madison campus of our church. We had many laughs, mostly generated my some of the things our 4th graders said. Here follows some quotes from our lovely girls.

"I'm going to join a sorority when I go to college." - A
"What sorority?" - T
"Ole Miss!" - A
She continually insisted that "Ole Miss" was a sorority

"You're married? Oh Em Gee! You are so old! I thought you were in highschool but you're, like... old!" - A

"We eat sushi twice a week. My favorite is chicken teryaki... I like the fried rice with it but the vegetables are GROSS!" - A

Some of the girls wrote a song. This was all they came up with... and they sang it almost constantly the whole 48ish hours.
"Chrystal earrings. Chrystal earrings." - T and R
"I like tea and tea likes me" - T
"Stick to the subject, stick to the subject" - R
"Chrystal earrings, Chrystal earrings" - T and R
And they sang those few lines over and over.

Yesterday, I was laying in bed trying to recover from a watermelon allergy attack from lunch and the girls came in to get ready for games and waterfront time. It is amazing what children when say when they think no one is paying attention.
"My mom had to go buy me a one piece bathing suit just because of this camp." - A
"Oh, I only have one piece bathing suits." - R
"Well my mom says that guys only like girls who wear a bikini." - A
"Well MY MOM says that girls who wear bikinis only wear them because they don't have brains and personality to get guys to pay attention to them." - R

Last night when we were getting ready for bed:
"The reason I wiggled so much last night was cause I didn't have music to listen to." - E
"Ok. How about if we all get quiet, I will play us some classical music so we can all go to sleep?" - Me
"Classical music? Do you have Poker Face?" - R

I am sure there were many, many more but those are the ones sticking out in my mind the most right now. It was a good trip. I will leave you all with a video of Caleb on the blob at the waterfront Monday afternoon.

Dear blogland, I must confess...

Confession #1

We have lived in our apartment right at a month. And even though the fitness center is right across the parking lot, I did not make use of this dear amenity until Tuesday. I have since had 2 behind-kicking workout sessions. And it feels great. =o)

Obviously I am not the only slacker in the complex. Mind you, I can see the fitness center from my back porch. And it is rarely ever used. While I like having working out buddies, I do not like working out with people I do not know. It freaks me out. And makes me feel so uncomfortable to the point that I want to run... out of the building. Don't ask me why. Because I won't be able to give an answer. Am I the only one that feels that way? I like having a work out buddy to keep me motivated and will encourage me along the way. But there is nothing encouraging about Mr. Body Builder who ran for an hour straight without breaking a sweat.

So I am not going to advertise to the other people in the complex the beauty of the fitness center. I am going to be selfish and keep it to myself. ;o)

Confession #2

I have been enjoying not having work or school this week. Perhaps too much. The thought of getting up to drop Trevor off at work tomorrow morning and going to my cleaning job. Is it too much to ask to just be lazy the rest of my life?? Just kidding. Rather, I would rather just be a home body and only have to leave when I want to leave. But I think I will save that for a time when I have my dream home, not this apartment... oh well. Maybe one day, I can be a somewhat lazy, home body. haha

Confession #3

It absolutely bothers my curious side to know that people read my blog and don't comment. Quit lurking and make yourself known! :o) Please comment when you read. I will be glad to return the favor and read your blog and comment back.

Confession #4

I don't like water. Period. I'd much rather just have my Powerade slush from Sonic(ugh, evil happy hour). I have tried the whole Crystal Light thing. It works for me for a while but then I just get tired of it. Any advice/suggestions? I really have cute back on drinking soda. And I love lemonade but don't like drinking it constantly. I'm begging you. Well, not fully, but asking in a furtive manner. :o) What is the point of working out if I am not going to drink the amount of water that my body needs?

I think I will stop confessing for now. Honestly, though... if you read, please feel free to comment and I will return the favor. =)
